We currently have an opening for Surgical Technician Restricted Call Responsibilities: Following department standards maintains asepsis, positioning, prepping and draping, needle and instrument count, specimen care and dressing application. Prepares instruments and supplies for sterilization; cleans and decontaminates Instruments; assists in cleaning/preparing OR suite for next case. Provides appropriate instrumentation to surgeon. Provides psychological and physical comfort measures to patient and identifies changes in condition and reports to RN/Charge Nurse. The restricted call position is intended to supplement the CVOR call schedule. Staff working the restricted call positions will be on call the hours listed below, and compensated for a 40 hour work week. All unit guidelines for call will be followed by the restricted call staff member to include but not limited to: Staff member will carry a pager and maintain an updated contact phone number on the unit. Staff member is required to arrive to the hospital within 30 minutes of notification. The hours of restricted call will be determined by the unit manager and unit needs. These hours are subject to change with manager notification. Restricted call staff will follow all hospital attendance policies. If a staff member is on:call and does not respond, the attendance policy will be in effect. If a staff member is unable to be on call due to illness, etc., the staff member will contact the unit coordinator or manager to assist with coverage and the attendance policy will be in effect. Competency validations will be determined by the unit manager and educator. Staff may be required to work a designated number of day shifts in order to demonstrate competencies. Staff must attend all mandatory unit training and staff meetings as determined by the unit manager. If a permanent staff member wants to vacate a restricted call position, he/she will cover the call position until a replacement has been found, up to 3 months from request to transfer positions. Compensation for restricted call includes the following: Staff member will be scheduled on:call for the designated number of hours per week. This will not include stand:by pay When a staff member is called in, he/she will work as needed to complete the cases at base rate of pay. If greater than 40 hours per week are physically worked, staff member will receive overtime pay. Staff will be required to work holidays or cover call over holidays as determined by the manager.
