General Function Provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. General Requirements 1. 6 months previous experience working with children is preferred. 2. Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities. 3. Have an understanding of family problems, their needs, as well as the needs of at risk children. 4. Good Communication skills are a must. 5. The ability to create a risk-free environment on a daily basis 6. Must be at least 16 years of age 7. Enforce all YMCA policies in a professional and courteous manner. 8. Know Emergency Procedures and practice with them on an ongoing basis. Physical and mental requirements May be required to lift and carry up to 45 pounds in the form of supplies. May be required to stand for extended periods of time. Exhibit manual dexterity in order to accurately work on phone, computer keyboard, and other related office equipment. Receives and follows general instructions. Must be capable of working under pressure in a somewhat disruptive environment while remaining professional and exhibiting an upbeat attitude. Must possess auditory, verbal and visual capabilities in order to adequately communicate via phone, computer or in person. Must be friendly and professional at all times. Become CPR, AED & First Aid certified and maintain certification.
