My message is simple: clear communication is essential to all human ventures. My specialty is written communication. I believe in the power of writing to express what we really mean. Writing gives us all the chance to consider and choose our words. In a language like English those choices aren?t always easy. That?s why I do what I do. I?ve been helping people with their novels, memoirs, and business/self-help books for decades. I?ve learned through experience that those who are honest in what they write are also reliable business colleagues, doing what?s necessary to move their projects forward. If you are that kind of person, and your writing project needs help, we might work well together.
I can handle all kinds of writing projects, from editing long novels to writing 50-word ads. If you haven?t written a word, you might hire me to ghostwrite your story. Today?s publishing companies employ fewer and fewer editors. These publishers seldom ask authors for changes. They want it professionally edited before it gets there. They turn down a thousand books for every one they accept, and even when they like something enough to buy it, they often suggest that the author hire his or her own freelance editor for everything from critiques to line-by-line editing. Some publishers even leave the publication proofing to the author. They have to do this to compete. In today?s publishing market more and more authors succeed through self-publishing. Most of these successful people have hired freelance editors to help them shape and improve their work.
That?s where I come in. I am an experienced editor and a published writer. I?ve worked for newspapers, magazines, and book publishers. I?ve edited and ghostwritten books that had commercial success, most recently Greg Kihn?s ?Rubber Soul.? I?ve written, edited and published fiction and nonfiction of all kinds. My own stories and articles have appeared in places as diverse as Twilight Zone Magazine, Playgirl, and The Washington Post.
I cannot guarantee your book?s success, but I can improve its chances. I am an editor first and foremost, and I will not want any part of the ownership of your book.
